New solar charger for the iPhone 4
A solar charger is something we would expect for low-cost phones aimed for rural areas. But Frostfire, a design company, has designed $70 iPhone cover, called MoonCharge, which can use solar energy to charge the iPhone 4.
Mooncharge has a hybrid solar battery case which is a rechargeable battery concealed in a protective hard cases. This case can be charged through USB or through sunlight. The case stores the energy to be used by the iPhone later – an extra 315 hours of standby or 5 more hours of talk time.
Suntrica was a solar powered charger which was introduced earlier. There was a bicycle powered Nokia phone too. A solar charger for iPhone is a nifty little add-on for a resource hungry iPhone which is not famous for its battery life. (via GigaOM)
