MWC 2012: Huawei Ascend D Quad is “World’s Fastest Smartphone”
Smartphones are becoming more and more powerful, with increasing application and network system requirements. Arguably, the compoetition is no longer terms of raw GHz speeds, but rather in how many cores a mobile device has. Huawei’s latest Ascend D quad-core smartphone, introduced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, has been dubbed the “world’s fastest smartphone.”
Chinese mobile manufacturer Huawei has officially launched the Ascend D quad smartphone at MWC in Barcelona this week, and is reportedly today’s fastest smartphone so far. Featuring a K3V2 quad-core processor clocked at either 1.2 or 1.5 GHz, the Ascend D will also highlight a 4.5-inch 720p HD-capable multi-touch screen. The smartphone will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich pre-loaded.
Multimedia-wise, the Ascend D quad will feature an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with full 1080p video capture support. A front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera is also present, for video conferencing. The phone comes standard with a 1800 mAh battery, although an Ascend D quad XL will also be available with a bigger 2500 mAh battery. The bigger variant will a bit thicker, though, at 10.9 mm, compared with the standard variant’s 8.9 mm thickness.
Huawei will launch the “world’s fastest smartphone” in the China and Asia-Pacific markets, as well as Europe, the Americas and Middle East by second quarter of 2012.
