Indonesian HR software startup Gadjian bags funding by Golden Gate Ventures

GADJIAN, an Indonesian software company specializing in payroll and HR management tools, has raised an undisclosed amount of funding led by Southeast Asian venture capital firm Golden Gate Ventures after impressing them with their pioneering spirit.

The Jakarta-based startup’s software – which aims to provide companies with a HR and payroll solution – has over a dozen companies with more than 300 employees using their software. They plan to use the funding for marketing and hiring more people, as well as look into expanding into Bandung.

The software enables HR managers to keep track of employees’ personal details, attendance records, pay slips, sick and leave days, and even loans. It also offers a free service for companies with five employees or less, which makes it accessible to early-stage startups.

Gadjian is the brainchild of Afia Fitriati and Else Fernanda, and was launched in May this year. According to e27, their clientele includes popular Muslim fashion e-store HijUp and voucher website DiskonAja.

In a statement, Golden Gate Ventures managing partner Vinnie Lauria said: “When we first saw Gadjian’s software, we were extremely impressed with the design, usability, and the fact that it was helping solve a very real, painful problem for Indonesian businesses.

“We’ve never seen anything quite like that in Indonesia, so we’re thrilled to be able to join Gadjian in its quest to become the leading HRIS provider in the country.”

Fitriati said: “When we launched, our early adopters mainly [came] from technology-related sectors – as expected. But we’re pleasantly surprised that our initial traction also comes from more traditional sectors such as government institutions and real estate.”
