Why AI-powered chatbots are the underdogs of the HR tech world

AI-POWERED chatbots come in many shapes and sizes, and in the digital age, can help companies elevate the experience provided to employees almost instantly.

The technology is simple, easy to deploy, simple to maintain, and usually quite secure despite the integrations required with some of the critical human resources (HR) in order for the chatbot to be effective.

Chatbots have been deployed pretty effectively in the banking and financial services space, by airlines and railways, and even healthcare companies.

If the technology can wow customers, it can definitely be trusted to delight the company’s employees — especially if it is built with care and takes the needs of its users into account.

Charging into 2020, business leaders who are yet to jumpstart the digital journey of their HR division need to consider getting an AI-powered chatbot as the first step to not only help cultivate a digital mindset among the members of the division but also to delight employees across the organization.

Here are three ways AI-powered chatbots can help the organization craft a better employee experience in the coming months:

# 1 | Serve as an advisor to employees

Employees, especially in the digital age, want platforms that can serve them on-demand.

Whether they need the answer to a question about the company’s appraisal policy or access to its whistleblower committee — employees in almost all departments and divisions prefer to have the information at their fingertips.

A good chatbot can be programmed to understand employees’ queries and provide them with the right information, at any hour.

Further, given that it is a digital interface, it is likely to add a layer of confidentiality, giving employees more comfort when asking sensitive questions around the company’s policies.

# 2 | Assist with simple administrative tasks

Chatbots, especially when powered by AI, can be integrated with other applications such as the company’s Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and other employee-related tools such as digital timesheets and payments solutions.

Doing so allows employees to raise queries and tickets directly from the chatbot’s interface, making life simple for themselves as well as HR administrators as a result of the automation.

# 3 | Provide support around digital services

Employees often require special assistance with claims, taxes, and other financial matters, all of which are usually handled by the HR team.

However, with an intelligent, AI-powered chatbot at hand, employees might be able to accelerate advice and support using integrations that automatically reimburse claims and file taxes based on a combination of input from employees and information already available.
