Cisco Live 2022: Here are the new technologies unveiled for the hybrid workforce

• Spanning across its networking, security, collaboration, and optimized applications portfolio, the networking giant announce new innovations at Cisco Live that fit the hybrid workforce’s future.

Cisco kicked off its Cisco LIVE 2022 – its first ever hybrid event after hosting it virtually over the last two years. This year’s conversation and innovations focuses on hybrid work environments and guidance on how organizations can implement it in the best, most secure way possible.

So far, the networking giant has shared a slew of new technologies at Cisco Live, covering its networking, security, collaboration, and optimized applications portfolio, which according to Cisco, could help organizations drive the productivity, resilience and agility required in today’s hybrid world.

Cisco’s CEO Chuck Robbins in his keynote shared that their latest innovations would continue to help companies, including their clients, transform and adapt.

“Through the challenges and unpredictability of the past few years, I believe we’ve seen the true power of technology. Digital transformation remains core to every business as we navigate this complex world alongside our incredible customers and partners,” Robbins said.

Here’s some of the new technologies Cisco unveiled for the modern enterprise.

New cloud management capabilities with a unified experience 

Cisco basically wants to enable IT teams to work smarter and simplify their operations. Therefore, they came up with new innovations in cloud-managed networking and unified technology experiences.

“To build business agility and resilience, IT teams require unified solutions that bridge an organization’s technologies, locations, teams, and devices,” Cisco said in a statement. 

The new cloud management capabilities unveiled would provide a unified experience across the Cisco Meraki, Cisco Catalyst and Cisco Nexus portfolios – and a new Cisco ThousandEyes product to proactively forecast and optimize WAN performance.

Cisco Asia Pacific, Japan, and Greater China’s president Dave West told media during a virtual briefing that Cisco looked at the direction of unified experience mainly because IT environments are becoming overwhelmingly complex, especially with the move to hybrid work and cloud. 

“This is creating a network and overall IT experience that is more fragmented, less secure, and difficult to scale. We believe that unified IT experiences are key in delivering business agility across ASEAN. The power of our innovations comes from their ability to provision, manage, and forecast IT issues from a single pane of glass, enabling businesses to deliver seamless and secure world-class digital experiences to customers without downtime.”

For the cloud future

In effort to advance its networking platforms so customers can securely, logically, and seamlessly transition toward more cloud-based operating models, Cisco Live saw the unveiling of Cloud Management for Cisco Catalyst, designed to give customers the option to bring Meraki Cloud to their existing Catalyst deployments. 

The networking giant also unveiled its new Cisco Nexus Cloud SaaS offering aimed to simplify IT by providing a cloud-managed platform for cloud networking across public cloud, private cloud and edge computing environments of any size or scale. The Cisco Nexus Cloud is targeted for availability towards the end of the third quarter of this year.

The company also launched AppDynamics Cloud — a cloud-native observability platform for modern applications which are based on increasingly complex, distributed architectures and services — at the Cisco Live this year.

In essence, the platform continuously uses cloud-native applications to their best ability,  and it accelerates detection and resolution of performance issues with intelligent operations.

In addition, investment protection comes from continuously integrating data with OpenTelemetry standards and technology partnerships with cloud solutions and providers.

New free, open-source apps

At Cisco Live, two new apps — Cisco’s Panoptica and Calisti apps — were unveiled as the latest additions to its suite of cloud-native, API-first tools. It results in faster application development cycles, and provides businesses with modern application connectivity, security, and observability that is critical for exceptional digital experiences.

Predictive networks

Focusing on the need to shift away from reacting to networking issues and focus instead on being proactive, Cisco introduced its advancements in predictive networking via Cisco ThousandEyes, a cloud intelligence platform. ThousandEyes WAN Insights is basically its first step toward delivering on the Cisco Predictive Networks vision, empowering enterprise IT to move from reactive to preventative-based networking, improving operational efficiency and assurance of application experience. 

“Coming soon, ThousandEyes WAN Insights proactively alerts IT teams to issues before they happen and harm user experience, offering policy recommendations and path optimization guidance. Alongside ThousandEyes’ unmatched view of Internet health and behavior, the addition of ThousandEyes WAN Insights helps to empower customers to maximize their Internet and Cloud-centric environments and deliver flawless digital experiences,” Cisco noted in its statement.
