Korean kids hit boot camp to kick video game habit
Global news site All Voices has put up a 15-photo gallery of Korean kids whose parents sent them to military-style camps to get them to study harder and quit spending so much time playing video games.
I’ve always had mixed feelings about these camps. Maybe for a kid who’s seriously off-track and is in danger of spending time in jail, they can be effective. But for anyone not at that point, I really doubt they are likely to get the result parents want. And frankly, if the only problem is they spend too much time on games and not enough time studying, it’s hard to believe this is appropriate.
On the other hand, they’ll wind up doing all this stuff when they turn 20 anyway.
