India Startup News: Olacabs, YourCabs, eDubba, DGM India-Tyroo

If it was education space last month it is the transportation space this month, specifically cabs. Just last week we saw a cab company Savaari raise funding. We got two more this week. And then there is an acquisition and funding for an eCom shop which is targeting non-metros.

Olacabs

ANI Techonologies Pvt Ltd, which operates online cab rental service Ola, has raised funding from Tiger Global. The amount is not disclosed, though. Ola operates in Mumbai, Delhi, and Bangalore and also offers a radio rental service, like many other cab services.

YourCabs

YourCabs.com has raised angel funding from Sprism Investment Pvt Ltd and an unnamed angel investor. The amount is likewise not disclosed.

YourCabs, which is based out of Bangalore where it currently operates for now, is yet another online cab rental service. It connects vendors and drivers with customers. Yourcabs offers local trips, out of the city bookings and bookings to the airport.

YourCabs offers a wide range of car selection starting form Indica to Mercedes and Rolls Royce. It also provides an option to choose a mini-bus too.

DGM acquired by Tyroo

Tyroo has acquired DGM India, an affiliate ad network for US$ 0.6 million.

eDubba

eDabba.com has raised its first round funding of US$ 1 million from a group of investors. Unlike umpteen other eCom sites, eDabba uses a unique brick and click model, and targets the two-tier cities.

eDabba has tied up with local retailers, lists the products on its site, and uses the local retailers’ delivery channel to sell its products and services. This is probably the only big innovation I have seen in many years since cash on delivery. eDabba also uses kiosks at retail locations for people who can’t order online.

eDabba isn’t just limited to goods. It offers rail, air and hotel bookings, and is working as an aggregator. Overall, this is an interesting hybrid model.
