Asus Taichi Windows 8 Ultrabook, Tablet Hybrid Unveiled
Asus has unveiled their latest ultrabook hybrid, the Asus Taichi, which also doubles as a Windows 8 tablet. The Taichi succeeds the Asus Zenbook Prime as the Taiwanese company’s flagship Ultrabook.

The Asus Taichi basically follows the form factor of their Zenbook Prime ultrabooks — an 11.6-inch or 13.3-inch super slim and light notebook running the latest 3rd generation Intel Core i5 or i7 processors.
The dual-screen ultrabook can work separately or may be configured to work simultaneously so the screen mirrors the other. This means two users can simultaneously use the Taichi (the ultrabook side and the tablet side) independently of each other.
The Taichi has an FHD screen (1080p) for the main panel and uses an IPS LCD for the tablet panel. Hardware configuration will be similar to the Zenbook Prime which includes an Intel Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor, 4GB DDR3 RAM, SSD storage, dual-band WiFi 802.11n, dual HD camera (rear and front), Bang & Olufsen speakers and Sonic Master technology.

Asus will be releasing the Taichi sometime in the last quarter of 2012, once Microsoft has officially sent out the final version of Windows 8 operating system to the manufacturers. No word from Asus regarding the pricing of the Taichi but representatives at the event told us it would definitely fetch premium pricing.
