Thai travel startup TakeMeTour bags first Telenor Group event in Yangon

A THAI travel startup became the winner of the first Digital Winners Asia event held by the Telenor Group, one of the world’s largest telecommunications companies based in Norway. TakeMeTour walked away with NOK100,000 (US$12,200) to expand their business.

TakeMeTour was one of eight startups from five countries, competing for the prize in Yangon. In addition to the the funding money, the startup will also be able to access support, networks, and knowledge to scale, according to e27.

CEO and co-founder Jinda-Apiraksa Amornched said in a statement: “An event like Digital Winners Asia is a dream-come-true for startups like us. We started with the dtac Accelerate program and have advanced to this point to be able look at expansion into other markets. Then to have the caliber of speakers and their personal advice at the event, is priceless.”

The travel startup, which allows tourists to book one-day tours with local guides and claims to have the biggest library of such tours.

“Bringing together some of the brightest startups from across Asia in our first Digital Winners Asia event was not only inspiring, but an exciting indication of the extraordinary talent and growth in this region. All teams were strong and dynamic contenders,” says Johanna Staaf, Director of New Ventures, Telenor Group.
