How Facebook can make your business a hit across borders

AS the world increasingly goes mobile, the opportunity to grow your business by connecting with new customers from around the globe is bigger than ever. And today, Facebook announced that more than 1.2 billion people on the social media platform are connected to a small business in another country.

Following the launch of the cross-border solution last year, the social media giant has now rolled out four new solutions aimed at assisting businesses to expand internationally.

Dynamic-language optimization

With businesses seeking to expand to new countries or regions, the ability to reach the right customers in their preferred language is critical. With Facebook’s new “dynamic-language optimization” tool, businesses can include multiple languages in one campaign, with Facebook “matching the right language to the right person, at the right time,” read a press release from Facebook.

“This solution also makes budgeting across different languages easier, as Facebook will optimise for the best performance based on your total budget and campaign objective.”

Multi-country lookalikes

This tool takes the international lookalike audience tool to a new level. For advertisers, instead of just finding the best customers in one country, this tool now allows businesses to find customers in a combination of countries or regions.

Multi-city targeting

Like the above tool, this feature is all about connecting businesses with the right customers. Instead of having to spend a large amount of time researching where exactly to invest their advertising budget, the multi-city targeting tool enables businesses to target all cities above a certain population size.

On his cross-border success, David Suarez, Marketing Director at LifeCell said in a post on Facebook:

“Since we started advertising on Facebook, we were able to grow our business exponentially and sales have increased by 83 percent. As a result of this success, we’ve hired four more people with plans to hire two additional employees and we are now present in more than 40 countries across five continents.”

FBIQ Cross-border business insights finder

This new feature enables businesses to make decisions based on actionable insights concerning how and where to expand their business across the globe. Facebooks IQ cross-border insights finder gives advertisers the opportunity to discover untapped markets for their business.

How? This useful feature provides comparative country data based on past campaign performance across Facebook, Instagram and Audience Network. With this, users can map and size up opportunities or new growth around the world. Find out which markets are more likely to convert, cost less and encounter fewer ads.

With Facebook’s new updates, businesses now have the tools and education to reach new customers around the world who can help grow their business.

“Over the last year, Facebook has created many new features that not only help my business scale but also help me work more efficiently in different time zones. Instead of staying up late at night to check ads every hour, now I can set rules to turn off ads when they go out of our budget,” said Le Phuong Bao, a Facebook Marketer at iMedia and Trading Agency in Vietnam.

And once I have products that work in one country, I can easily scale to that region by adding new languages to my products and websites.”

According to Facebook, “Education is an important step as businesses decide to expand operations and hire new employees.” Following this, the social media giant has also developed a Blueprint e-learning course “Expand Across Borders with Facebook”.

Since the launch, almost two million people have registered in over 150 countries to acquire knowledge about how to achieve their desired business results through marketing.
