Sony Xperia Go, Xperia Acro S are Dust & Water-Resistant Andriod Smartphones

Sony has just launched two premium smartphones that cater to the active (or extremely clumsy) crowd. The Sony Xperia go and Xperia acro S are Android smartphones that come with added protection against the elements, and yet still offer premium multimedia capabilities through the Sony Entertainment Network and their crystal-clear Reality Display screen.

Sony’s Xperia go and Xperia acro S meet the stringent International Protection ratings standard for dust and water immersion. The smartphones also have mineral glass touchscreen for added resistance against scratches. Sony says users consider water- and dust-resistance to be important features in a mobile phone. Sony cites a study conducted in Japan by Mobile marketing Data Labo, which has determined water resistance to be among the top three most important features for smartphone buyers.

Sony attributes the success of the Japanese-market Xperia acro S HD to its water- and dust-resistant features. The smartphone has been among the company’s best-selling models in the country since it was launched in March, which is considered an indication that smartphone users want their mobile phones to be durable enough to withstand spills and immersions. The two latest releases are international versions of the well-received smartphone.

The Xperia acro S is the more stylish of the two smartphones, offering a balance of design and durability. The Xperia acro S offers a high-definition Reality Display screen with full HD recording capabilities. The smartphone can be connected to any compatible TV set through HDMI. The acro S also features NFC, which is an emerging standard for exchanging data with as simple a gesture as a tap against another NFC-capable smartphone or an NFC tag.

The Sony Xperia acro S offers a rugged, but stylish design, trademark of Sony Xperia Android smartphones.

Sony Xperia acro S features:

  • 1.5 Ghz dual core processor
  • 4.3” 720p HD Reality Display powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine
  • 12MP fast capture camera (one second from sleep to snap)
  • PlayStation™ Certified

Meanwhile, the Xperia go is meant for more rugged use, with its focus on extra protection against the elements. But even so, Sony has designed the Xperia go not to be bulky, even with its extra dust- and water-resistance. The Xperia go will be marketed in the U.S. as the Xperia advance.

The Sony Xperia go is designed for the active user, with enhanced dust and water resistance.

Sony Xperia go features:
