Instagram now lets users order food and book tickets via its app
PHOTO and video sharing app, Instagram, now lets users transact directly via the app.
A new feature on Instagram allows businesses to place ‘call to action’ buttons on their profile, to help customers connect with the third-party partners from the platform. These call to actions (CTAs) are: make a reservation, buy a ticket, start an order, and make a booking.
The Book, Get Tickets, Reserve or Start Order buttons are now available via the business profiles of the following Instagram partners:
- Acuity
- Atom Tickets
- Booksy
- ChowNow
- Eatstreet
- Eventbrite
- Fandango
- GrubHub
- MyTime
- OpenTable
- Reserve
- Restorando
- Resy
- SevenRooms
- StyleSeat
- Tock
- Yelp
Although the buttons essentially open up a browser window or widget for users to perform their chosen actions which means they aren’t native to the Instagram app, but still, they enrich the customer experience by being only a tap away.
However, businesses might soon become more integrated with Instagram if they leverage the native payment feature recently introduced by the social media app. An article recently cited Atom Tickets as an example of a business making the most of these new features offered by the platform.
According to Instagram, the following businesses will soon be getting the CTA treatment as well:
- Appointy
- Genbook
- LaFourchette
- Mindbody
- Schedulicity
- SetMore
- Shedul
- Vagaro
In a recent blogpost, Instagram said a lot of businesses have leveraged their platform to build and grow their business, and these new CTAs will help them improve their customer experience.

“As businesses increasingly view Instagram as a place where business gets done, we’re committed to making it easier for them to manage their presence on the platform,” said Instagram in its blogpost.
