  • Employees have higher expectations for purpose-driven business cultures and now rely on work tools for both collaboration and peace of mind

Businesses of all shapes and sizes are already beginning to embrace digital technology to get around the constraints of the real world. Due to its ability to significantly alter how firms operate by enhancing internal business processes, digitalization has completely revolutionized business.

The goal of digitization is to make automation possible, improve data quality, and collect and organize all that data so that organizations can use cutting-edge technology, including better and more intelligent software. Higher process efficiency, lower transaction costs, and improved control over corporate operations are the results of digitization for both the individual company and the network of connected enterprises.

After having to deal with uncertainties, businesses are continuing to drive towards a digital future as they recognize these advantages.

Businesses face ongoing uncertainties

Adobe Document Cloud published new findings from the second annual global “Future of Time” study on the evolution of work. According to the report, over 70% of managers and workers concur that change has replaced stability in the workplace. As a result, workers now depend on digital technologies to stay productive as well as find peace of mind during particularly worrisome periods.

Businesses of all sizes continue to struggle with a great deal of uncertainty, as well as frequent effects on employee well-being and productivity, according to Todd Gerber, Vice President of Document Cloud at Adobe.

“Adapting to macroeconomic shifts necessitate that organizations prioritize strategic investments in digital technologies – including modern productivity and workflow tools like Document Cloud – that will enable better workforce productivity, collaboration and innovation,” added Gerber.

Due to the ongoing uncertainty, 76% of workers said a breaking news event might affect their day for a few hours, and 70% of managers and employees said they spend more time at work reading or discussing news coverage than they did a year ago. All employees have seen a drop in efficiency and production as a result of this uncertainty, but Gen Z employees (93%) and millennial employees (87%) have been particularly affected compared to earlier generations, including 79% of Gen X employees and 71% of Boomers and their older peers.

However, the majority of workers (58%) now see their jobs as a welcome diversion from the uncertain economy. By utilizing digital tools in new, creative ways, businesses of all sizes are innovatively maintaining employee engagement and support. As a result, staff members are ready to co-create the future of work and have an impact on revolutionary projects. One in four employees expect their employers to innovate in the upcoming year by giving them the chance to experiment with new processes.

The majority of employees reported that uncertainty has forced them to innovate in their positions, such as using new processes and creative problem-solving approaches.

Businesses demand modern digital technology for support at work

Given the ongoing uncertainty, employees are now looking for purpose-driven jobs at businesses that place a high value on investing in cutting-edge technology and the welfare of their workers.

  • The majority of managers and employees believe they now have higher expectations for purpose-driven business cultures than they did one year ago. Employees who actively shape their workplace cultures are more likely to be satisfied.
  • Nearly seven out of ten managers and workers use digital technologies to reduce stress at work, remain productive when they are having difficulties focusing, and lessen the pressure to finish work when a coworker needs to take time off unexpectedly. However, in order to help employees through uncertain times, 68% of ENT managers and 59% of SMB leaders said they need more tools and resources.
  • More than 70% of workers and managers agree that digital solutions are facilitating and strengthening working relationships, including helping managers to facilitate wellbeing check-ins, making it easier for employees to provide feedback to leaders, and encouraging employee collaboration.

There will undoubtedly be a lot of new challenges brought on by the digital revolution. However, it’s more important than ever for businesses to stay on top of the latest technological developments and advancements in order to avoid falling behind competitors.
